This tour will provides you many opportunities to experience the Nomadic people, great Gobi desert, vast steppe and culture of Mongolia. You will visit to Gobi Desert where you will ride 2 humped camels, walking on sand dunes and visit to Kharkhorum, ancient capital of Great Mongolian Empire in 13th century. Also, we will enjoy first Buddhist Monastery Erdenezuu and Kharkhorum museum
Day 1 Arrival in Ulaanbaatar Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. After checking-in to the hotel, we will do short city tour including Chinggis Square, Chinggis Khaan Monument, Gandan Monastery and Zaisan Hill for panoramic view of the city. Before having dinner, we will enjoy Mongolian traditional folklore concert and after dinner we will return to the hotel and stay overnight. |
Day 2 Ulaanbaatar - Yoliin Am Drive to Chinggis Khan Airport. Check in domestic flight. Fly to Dalanzadgad airport and meet driver start countryside tour. Drive to Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountain Range (Three beauties of Gobi). It is the end of the Altai Mountain Ranges where you will have the chance to see wild animals such as wild sheep, ibex, condor, golden eagle and vultures. We will visit Yoliin Am glacier canyon and enjoy walking between the canyons. Until mid July, we can see glaciers of the canyon. Stay the night at tourist Ger Camp. |
Day 3 Yoliin Am - Khongor Sand Dunes Drive to Khongor Sand Dunes or known as Singing Dunes. Khongor Sand Dunes are the biggest sand dunes of Mongolia. It has an extraordinary length of 180 kms and is 15-20 kms wide. There is an oasis near Khongor River at the northern edge of the sand dunes. Stay the night at Ger Camp. |
Day 4 Khongor Sand Dunes - Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs Drive to Bayanzag known as Flaming cliffs. Bayanzag is famous for dinosaur remains, complete dinosaur skeletons and fossilized eggs. American explorer, Roy Chapman Andrews discovered this area in the beginning of 20th century and became internationally famous. If you see carefully, while exploring the area you could find some piece of bones or dinosaur eggs. In the afternoon we can visit Gobi tree saxaul forest. Stay the night at tourist Ger Camp. |
Day 5 Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs - Ongi Temple Ruin Drive to Ongi Temple Ruin. It was one of the 7 biggest temples in Mongolia. There are ruins of 2 complex monasteries which were built up in the 1780s. After people’s revolution in 1921, these two monasteries were destroyed and lamas (monks) were killed by communists. If you get up early, you will have a great chance to see some wild animals such as wild sheep, ibex, wolf etc. Stay the night at tourist Ger Camp. |
Day 6 Ongi Temple Ruin - Kharkhorum Drive to Kharkhorum. Kharkhorum was built in 1220 and was the capital of Mongolia for 140 years. In 1388, the city was massively destroyed and Erdenezuu Buddhist Monastery where we will make a visit was founded in 1586 at the city’s ruin. It was the first and the biggest Buddhist center in Mongolia in 17th century. The monastery complex is surrounded by 400x400m walls with 108 stupas. In the early 20th century, there were more than 100 temples and over thousand lamas that used to serve. The monastery was sacked during the purges of 1937. Nowadays, only one temple holds religious activity and the rest remained as a museum. Stay the night at tourist Ger Camp. |
Day 7 Kharkhorum - Ulaanbaatar Drive to Ulaanbaatar and we will do short sightseeing tour including Natural History Museum or National History Museum or Bogd Khan Winter Palace Museum. In the afternoon, you will have free time for shopping and for relaxing. Afterwards we will have a farewell dinner and will stay the night at the hotel. |
Day 8 Departure Check out from the hotel. Drive to the airport and depart from Ulaanbaatar. |
